Frisco successfully won the bid to hold the 2010 championship game at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco on January 7, 2011. Tickets go on sale beginning September 13, 2010. Tickets may be purchased online at: www.ncaa.com/football. Visitors will bring sales tax dollars to the region during their stay. The City of Frisco and partnering organizations are planning a week of football-themed events proceeding the game.

 

The Frisco Sister Cities organization joins more than 600 US cities with relationships with cities in more than 120 countries across the globe. Programs will include educational, sport, cultural and business exchanges with partner cities; as well as cultural, culinary, travel, and business related conferences held throughout the year in Frisco for our members. Mayor Maso and the Frisco City Council invite students in grades 10-12 to apply for the Mayor’s Youth Council. The mission of the Frisco Mayor's Youth Council is to enrich the lives of the youth by encouraging involvement in the community and local government, ensuring a unique sustainable city. The grand opening for the new Frisco Discovery Center is scheduled for October 2, 2010. Located close to the Dallas North Tollway and Cotton Gin Road, the Discovery Center will include the Sci-Tech Discovery Center, a black box theater and gallery space for art exhibits. Entry to the center is FREE on opening day.

City staff made a brief budget presentation and indicated that the Frisco City Council is committed to providing continued great service to Frisco citizens without a tax increase. Road improvements were once again the chief topic in staff’s update on capital projects.
